    Agli Artisti

The 2-star, family owned Agli Artisti Hotel enjoys a quiet location, yet is just a few minutes' walk from both Santa Lucia railway station and Piazzale Roma bus terminal. Furthermore, the hotel is no more than 100 metres from the Grand Canal, and its waterbus stops, from where the "vaporetti" continue to Rialto Bridge, the Accademia Gallery, St. Mark's Square, the Lido or the glass making island of Murano. Positioned in a peaceful street just off the popular and bustling Lista di Spagna, guests will find that not only is the hotel easy to reach and find, but that it is also a gateway to all the restaurants, cafes and bars that are so popular in Venice, especially in the the summertime. Offering a total of 35 recently renovated guestrooms, all the hotel's accommodation features fully equipped private bathrooms, satellite TV, air conditioning, safety deposit box and direct dial telephone; most rooms also offer a small balcony. A continental breakfast is available to all guests in the intimate surroundings of the breakfast room which also doubles up as a bar during the evening. ***There is city tax payable by guest directly to hotel

    Bauer IL Palazzo

Palatial rooms are spacious and offer city view. They feature a wide range of amenities and are very comfortable. 'Settimo Cielo' is the beautiful terrace and lounge on the seventh floor, where breakfast is served with spectacular view over the city and the lagoon. 'De Pisis' is an intimate terraced gourmet restaurant on the Grand Canal and offers traditional venetial and Mediterranean cuisine. This is a 7-storey creamy color ancient venetian building, elegant and romantic, dated back to 1880, with a Gothic facade, which reflects Venetian opulence at its best. Larged sized, wood furnished, well refined and rich of particulars. There is also the 'Bar Foyer' in a cozy and intimate atmosphere with sitting area and American bar to enjoy cocktails. More like a sophisticated home than a hotel, it is both elegant and luxurious, with lavish decors and furnishings, designed for the ultimate in comfort for any visitor to Venice. Sharing facilities with Bauer hotel.

The services provided with professionalism and courtesy by the hotel's staff, complete the numerous comforts offered by Hotel Continental and ensure guests a truly pleasant stay. The reception can handle reservations for boat tours of Venice and the beautiful lagoon islands, guided tours of the artistic and historical areas of the city and its surroundings and all useful information on events and performances in the city. You can purchase tickets for numerous concerts directly in the hotel. The following are also available: foreign exchange and laundry service. For guests with children a baby sitting service is available upon request. The first floor offers a touch of class with frequent art and cultural events, including art and fashions shows. Hotel Continental is located in a prestigious building overlooking Canal Grande, filled with charm and history. The architecture dates back to the 15th century when the noble Frizier family had it built to use as their residence. During the 18th century the dynasty died out and the building was donated to Opera Pia del Capitolo di San Geremia, and over the centuries it was renovated and expanded until reaching the structure that we see today. The exteriors are tasteful and typically Venetian, while the interior of the hotel exudes the ambiance of a great elegant hotel, starting right from the lobby. A facility where hospitality is combined with a sharp eye for detail.

Hotel Continental is located in the perfect spot for those who wish to comfortably visit Venice: it is on Canal Grande in Lista di Spagna, just before the beginning of Strada Nova, one of the city's main pedestrian streets and unquestionably the most picturesque stroll which runs between the train station and leads to Rialto. There are many shops along the way for shopping fans, numerous "bacari" (traditional Venetian snack bars) and a colorful neighborhood market near Ponte delle Guglie. The hotel is also just steps from the train station and Piazzale Roma. To get to the most famous sights such as Rialto or San Marco, just follow the route which passes in front of the hotel or take a vaporetto from the Ferrovia stop located a few minutes from the Continental. Public transportation leaves from here and runs along all of the wonderful Canal Grande stopping near the most important monuments and museums, including Ca' Vendramin Calergi, home to Venice's Casino, Ca' D'Oro, a splendid example of 15th century architecture, the Gallerie dell'Accademia, the most important gallery in Venice and among the most important in the world, the Collezione Peggy Gugghenheim, an excellent collection of contemporary American art and then head for the Giardini, the exposition site of Biennale di Venezia and Lido, the city's beach where the Mostra Internazionale del Cinema is held each year. For those who wish to grant themselves all comforts, the hotel has a landing on Canal Grande, where it is possible to take a water taxi. Just steps from Hotel Continental, in the heart of the Cannaregio quarter, are some art and history gems not to be missed: Palazzo Labia, now home to Rai; Ca' Vendramin Calergi, site of Venice's casino, a splendid example of Renaissance architecture, which hosted the famous musician Richard Wagner who died here in 1883 and whose rooms have been turned into a lovely museum, of great interest for music lovers. Ca' D'Oro, a lovely 15th century aristocratic residence, currently Galleria Franchetti, houses a wonderful collection of paintings, including the famous "Saint Sebastian" by Mantegna, and works by the greatest 16th century Venetian and Flemish painters. Palazzo Labia is a luxurious 18th century residence with a marvelous fresco cycle by Tiepolo. Venice's Jewish Ghetto is very evocative. It is the oldest known and developed around Campo del Ghetto Novo, where the fascinating Museo Ebraico is found along with the Schole, the five synagogues of the Ghetto.

The rooms are all different in size and some can be very spacious. Some rooms have exposed beams or lacunar ceilings, others feature a calce rasata finish (traditional Venetian method of finishing walls). All rooms are furnished in different style, they are equipped with mini bar, telephone, Internet connection, satellite television, radio, digital combination safe, sprinkler and individually-controlled air conditioning. An intimate, richly decorated room, with lead lined windows and exposed dark wood beams and pillars. The furnishings are traditional and the walls are wood paneled. The Caravella restaurant is one of Venice's historic venues. Its elegant ambience, recreating the interior of an ancient sailing ship, has welcomed guests from all over the world for forty years. It offers traditional Venetian and international cuisine accompanied by good wines and excellent service. During the summer "La Caravella" serves its guests in the open air, in a typically Venetian plant-filled courtyard adjacent to its winter premises.
In the restaurant bar service is also available.
The guests can enjoy a rich buffet-style breakfast in the "Cortile" room. In the summer season, it is served instead in a typical Venetian courtyard. It is an ancient palace, built in the 14th century and residence of a patrician family. The hotel is a traditional Venetian building in its architecture, with a stone clad base and purple plastered upper floors. The large salon on the ground floor, characteristic of Venetian patrician palaces, captures the ambience of ancient Venice.
The hotel's interior boasts elegant furnishings, in keeping with early 20th-century style, which is evident in the marble bas-reliefs, in the hammered metal lamps, tinted glass and lacunar ceiling. The hotel Saturnia is housed in a palace built in the 14th century (one of the oldest in Venice), it has been managed by the same family for four generations, welcoming guests from all over the world, creating a solid tradition of hospitality. In the summertime, clients can enjoy the hotel's terrace/solarium and its splendid view across the rooftops of Venice, and the cupola of the Church of the Madonna della Salute.

The Canada Hotel is a real find. Not because of any luxuries it might offer, but because of its price and its location, right in the heart of Venice and exactly midway between the Rialto Bridge and the Piazza San Marco. Overlooking San Lio, one of Venice's many historical squares ("Campielli"), the 2-star Canada Hotel was once a typical Venetian home. Nowadays it offers a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere, combined with a helpful and personal service, and one of Venice's most sought-after locations. Guests staying at the Canada should note that the hotel has no elevator, but it does offer a great place from which to explore and discover this most fascinating of European cities. ***There is city tax payable by guest directly to hotel

The hotel is situated at the foot of the Ponte dei Greci near Riva degli Schiavoni and a short walk from Piazza San Marco, a perfect location, characterized by the tranquility of Venice's most "real", outside the traditional tourist track, but that there allows you to easily reach the shopping area of the city, which is its most important monuments and at the same time the area of Castello and the Arsenale, where the Biennale takes place.

About Venice

Venice has canals by the dozen, and is also known as the floating city, with Marco Polo still visible in its history, where the East met the West in olden days when merchants traded silks and spices. From the splendours and wealth from the time of the Dukes, the great many palaces that were built all over the city still bear witness to the aforementioned success of those bygone days.
Start your journey in Venice by visiting Venice’s most famous square, St. Mark’s Square, built in the 12th century, and proclaimed byNapoleon as “Europe’s most beautiful Lounge” due to its vast dimensions and beauty. This square is framed by a host of elegant cafes, with Cafe Florian and Caffe Quadri having the distinction of being the oldest in the area, and the Clock Tower (Torre dell’Orologio) in the Renaissance style, St. Mark’s Basilica also stands there, with the Bell Tower (Il Campanille) that issome 96 metres high and has a beautiful view of this romantic location, and the Ducal Palace. The Byzantine church of St. Mark dating from the 9th century was rebuilt after a fire in the 11th century and took on a more oriental appearance, with the interior clad in gold mosaics, and the Pala D’Oro where St. Mark’s remains have been laid to rest along with the beautiful Madonna Nicopeia in the main altar.

The Ducal Palace (Palazzo Ducale) is a pearly 14th century structure that combines Islamic and Gothic styles. The interior is in the 16th century Renaissance style and the Hall of Consiglio Maggior is worth a visit, one of the most spectacular works in the palace. If you follow this secret routine in the palace you will come to the famous Bridge of Sighs, a Baroque 17th-century bridge that joins the jail under the palace. The name was given to it due to the despairing sighs of the prisoners, who believed it would be the last time they saw the light of day.

Once you have seen these wonders, you have seen the essentials that Venice has to show, but it’s always nice to see other treasures that are not as widely revered. After leaving St. Mark’s square through the Correr Museum, you will come to the Baroque Mose Church with a Tintoretto washing place, and further on St. Steffan’s church and the leaning tower. Very near is the Academy Bridge that takes you to the Academy Galleries that have a wonderful collection of Venetian art. After leaving, you can either carry on along near the canal or just walk to the Grand School of St. Rocco, again with a Tintoretto decoration, and then watch out for the Gothic Church of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari whose main altarpiece was designed by Titian.
Finally you will come to Rialto Bridge, Venice’s oldest bridge, dating back to the 16th century. Don’t miss the chance to take a gondola trip to truly appreciate the palace’s structure, the beauty of its maze-like canals, to drench yourself in the romantic atmosphere that emanates from the city.
